A couple of things before you eat too much turkey

So Thanksgiving is almost here, which means....

- I only have a few more days left in my 20's, but that's not till next week so I'm not gonna think about that right now.

- I get to eat all sorts of yummy delicious foods...YES!

- And it's time to get Christmas cards ready...ugg

Well I am happy to say my cards are done and ordered....yippy!!! Here are a couple of the main pictures I used on this year's card.

We finally got out and were able to take some pictures...the only problem was Chester was sick so we didn't get to many good ones, but maybe next time.

Chester had a blast taking these pictures, cause he loved playing with the lights.

On another note...

We finally have a walker in our house....or should I say a runner, he really doesn't have a slow speed. :)

I hope you all have a wonder Thanksgiving!!!

Peace, Love, Turkey,

Janet

My New Favorite Thing - the Little Green Pouch

So about a month or so ago I was playin' on Pinterest...Yeah I'm on there and I love it....It's a great place for me to get creative ideas and to waste time. ;) But I have been inspired by alot of different things on there. If your on there and want to follow me you can click here...

Ok, back to what I cam here to talk about. Someone had pinned a picture of these Little Green Pouches and boy was I excited!

You may have seen these little guys smiling at you while walking through the grocery store. They are full of apple/fruit sauce and they are awesome to feed a kid a snack or fruit with a meal when your on the go...and we are always on the go! The problem with these guys are they are super expensive.

So when I found these guys I got super excited and ordered some right away.

So here's what they look like.  Just like the store bought ones, only these you can re-use. Chester eats table food all the time now so we don't really use these all that much anymore, but we do some. I wish I had found these when he was 8 months old cause I would have saved soo much money....

Oh well it went to a good cause, Chester's belly and my sanity!

On their website they talk about using them for all sorts of food, but I only use them for fruit. I also wouldn't start a baby on any of these type of things till they were eating solids from a spoon really well, cause I have heard of moms who just use these to feed their baby and then couldn't get them to eat from a spoon...

Talk about pulling your hair out.

As you can see they can see they are BPA and Phthalte free....

Not a huge deal to me, I mean it's good, but I don't freak out about all that stuff. The thing that really makes me happy is above that where it says Dishwasher Safe...now they are speaking my language. But actually I don't put them in there all that much cause I usually wash them by hand using a bottle brush.

I use a lot of strawberries and raspberries and I never strain the seeds out....way too much work....so they seem to stay stuck in there even when I put them through the dishwasher. So I just scrub them our with a bottle brush and stick them on the bottle drying rack and we are good to go.

Like I said the website where you buy these at has all different recipes you can put in them, like full meals, but I stick to mixed fruit, it works best for me.

You can use fresh fruit...which I use when I have some that will go to bad before it gets ate...but what I mainly do is go and buy a bag of the mix berries frozen fruit and let it thaw and then trow it into the food processor or blender whichever works fine and then I add some apple sauce to it.  I have homemade stuff apple sauce but if I didn't, I would go and buy some mots...probably with no sugar added...and add some of that to it.  I have tried it without the apple sauce and it just seemed to give it a better texture for using in these things. I also put in some canned crushed pineapple into it to make it taste that much better and to add some liquid to smooth it out.

I also have some frozen mango and frozen peaches that I will add to the mix. Really anything goes....what ever you can find.

Helpful Hint: If you get these take the lid off and blow into them. They come flat as a pancake. They say they can fit 6 ounces and I didn't do this and could barely get 2 ounce in them. I wasn't too happy....but then for some random reason I decided to blow into them to try and get them to pop open just a little more when I was filling it and boom....the bottom that was stuck so tight together came flying apart and I felt like a big dork. Live and learn. lol

As you can see Chester loves them and they work great when I am taking food to the field...which is half the year when I am doing that....so I love them! And the fruit in them is so yummy Caleb and I have been known to use them a time or two as well...

Just don't tell Caleb there is blueberries and raspberries in them, he might stop eating them ;)

*oh I think that is goulash on his face, not fruit, he stays pretty clean when he eats from these.

So once again they are called Little Green Pouch and they are $14.99 for a 4-pack. That may seem a little high, but compared to a $1-1.50 a piece for the others, it wouldn't take long to get that back in savings! And these can hold up to 6 ounces where those were only around 3.5 ounces.

Anyways, I just thought I would share these little wonders with you, cause I love them and think they are great!

Lots of Love,

JP

A Few Pictures Really Fast

So real quick, I just wanted to share with you that we are finished with bean harvest.  Wahoo!!!!

Here are some pics from the guys movin' right along in our last field.

Hopefully I will get a chance soon to sit down and do some edits and write about the Soybean harvest, but as of right now I am trying to find my house again...

It's a never ending process...

Especially because for every one thing I put away I have a little boy who gets t
three more out! ;)

Now that harvest is over we are going to get some family pics taken!!! We haven't ever gone and done that. Caleb tell me since I have a camera I must take them...which means extra work and twice the time. But I finally have outfits picked out and now a location.  Aren't these trees awesome!! I love fall!!! Hopefully tomorrow we will take them, while the trees are still beautiful!

And last this was the sunset yesterday evening...It makes me smile!!

Lots of Love,

JP

I'm Not Sure Life Ever Slows Down

Caleb and I are both ready for this droughthy conditions to go away...

Not only because it will mean, greener pastures, better crops and more water in the ponds....

But because we could have a lazy rainy day.  Since it has been so dry the past couple of years things haven't really slowed down....

Now part could be due to our son arriving in that time period, but a lot of it I blame on the dry weather.  When it's dry and sunny out you can do all those projects you have set aside for a dry and sunny day.

I really have no idea what all that had to do with the pictures I was planning to put in this post, (I started this the other day and didn't finish it...oops) I guess I just thought you all should know that. :)

Oh here I will tie it in....
Since it's been dry and sunny wheat has been doing good the past few years, and we have been busy sowing it for pretty much thepast month solid!

To start the day off we will fill the drill full of wheat, so Caleb can go as long as possible without stopping.

While Caleb was filling the drill Chester knew he couldn't just sit and watch, so he thought it would be a good idea to go over the presser wheels at the back of the drill and make sure they were working correctly.

And he found out that they were all spinning correctly.

He then proceeded to tell Caleb what he found out.

Since Chester had going over the drill under control, Caleb went back to filling the drill with wheat.

Chester was a very busy boy this morning, cause he also made sure Caleb had the drill set correctly....

And  got in and drove the truck when Caleb needed the seed tender moved while filling the drill.

Needless to say Chester was very proud of all the work he did.

When I started this post we hadn't started combining beans just yet, but since then we have cut 200-300 acres...

That's just a bit of what we have, so we are just getting started. And we had a nasty breakdown last night with Pop's combine...

And by nasty I mean there is hydrolic oil sprayed all over it and they don't know where the busted hose is....

and it's broke down in the field...

and it's cold outside.

But it wasn't cold out side the day I took these pics, as you can see from my child's attire. ;)

If you are wondering about all the green stuff between the rows of beans, that is just volunteer wheat. If  the bean fields are next to any of our cattle pastures, then we will turn them out on the fields and let them mow it off till we are ready to work under the fields.

Also if we have cattle next to the wheat fields we sowed then we will turn them out on there for awhile. On the fields we were planning on doing this, we sowed the wheat about two weeks earlier than we sowed the wheat that wouldn't become cattle pasture.

We turned these cattle out on the wheat pasture a little over a week ago and Chester and I thought we would see how they were liking it. They were fat as toads, but that didn't stop Pokey from begging for feed.

Well, I got to get ready and go do some errands for the farmers, so I will catch you later.

12 Months of Chester

At the beginning of this month we celebrated Chester's first birthday....

I know I can't believe it's already been a year. Time is sure flying around here!!

Well back before he was born my friend Carrie over at "Life in the Slow Lane" sent me some onesies and monthly stickers for taking pictures of little man. The onesies ranged from newborn to 12 months...which lasted for about 6 months with my little monster, lol.

Now I won't lie there were months when I hated those stickers, cause we were busy and I just didn't want to take the time to take pictures. When it was all said and one I am so glad I had them, cause it made me take the time and take the pictures.

And here they are from the beginning to now...

I know he didn't have the onesie and sticker on in this one, but this was one of his newborn shots, and I just love it....and can't believe how "tiny" he was.
