Caleb and I are on the road today making a rush trip to Kansas City today...
We got up early and went out to feed the cattle and break the ice...
Which probably froze back because it was -2 when we got outside...
All I can say is burr it was cold...
I've made coffee every morning this week cause it been soo cold and I have needed it!!
Anyways we are on the road...off to get a dining room table and I am ubber excited about it. Its one of those rustic pine labels. I've been lookin' for one for awhile now but I didn't want to pay the price for a new one. Then on Sunday I finally found one on craigslist that I loved up in KC. We wanted to come up sooner to get it, but we got snow and extremely cold temps which makes cattle chores take twice as long...
But more on that later, i'll write more on that when I'm at home and can share all my pictures with you.
I writing all this on my new motorola droid and I love it!
The two pics are us on our way there....
I have no idea where the will be in the post....so I guess we will see how posting with this phone works.
I don't know how good the pics are i'm not sold on the quality of the ones from this phone...
But then again i'm kinda spoiled with my 40D...
We got the table chairs loaded up and they are beautiful...and I love them. I will show you photos later.
Well I hope you all are stayin' warm, i'll be back with my snow pics soon.
Peace Out,
JP

Hay Feed
This winter has been pretty calm here on our farm and that is perfectly ok with Caleb and I. We haven't had any snow around here yet, but that is suppose to change as of tomorrow...
Yuck....
Snow may look pretty and make some pretty pictures, but it sure stinks when it comes to taking care of our livestock.
So far this winter we have just been feedin' a little hay. Depending on the size of the group how much we put out. The smaller group might get a bale every two days, and the larger groups will get one bale every day.
Since it has been relatively mild so far, the cattle will eat some hay, and then head back out to the pasture and munch on what's left of last falls grass.
Other farms around the country will pull their cattle off some of their fall pastures to allow the grass to grow up and then they will turn the cattle out on it in late fall or early winter.....this is called stock piling and it's a great way to help stretch your hay pile farther. If get a lot of snow on the ground this really doesn't work so well cause the cattle really don't like to dig down for the grass. They get kind of lazy and just want you to give them hay, cause it taste a lot better than the grass does. If we had more cross fences this would work great, but since we don't, we just have to hope that they don't mow it off to early in the fall.
But, like I said before it has been pretty mild so far this winter and we hadn't been putin' a lot out. The other day Caleb was workin' ground so I headed out to feed and check all the ladies and their babies.
The light was beautiful....when the sun was out.
This little guy wasn't to happy with me layin' on the ground takin' his picture. He kept hollerin' at me.
Yes I was actually layin' on the ground....
No I didn't look before I laided down...
And no I didn't lay in a cow pie thank goodness...
The things I do to get a picture for you guys!
I'm pretty sure that this mouthy little guy is the same calf that would chase us all over the pasture last fall. Even though the truck would usually be bringing food he would go running after us kickin' and jumpin' and hollering. It's pretty funny to watch, one of these days I will have to get a video camera so I can video tape things like this for ya'll to see.
I was to much of a distraction for these guys. They weren't gonna start eatin' till I left.
Well if we get the snow they are talkin' about tomorrow then it will be a busy morning, but I promise to take lots of pictures and hare them all with you guys.
Laters,
Janet

A List
- I am making Lasagna for dinner (Lunch) today.
- Confession, I have never made Lasagna before and can't spell it without looking at the recipe.
- It's suppose to be in the 50's today so I am gonna take my new Christmas toy for a spin in the garden. Caleb already has his fall tillage done in the fields, now it's time for me to get mine done…well at least started.
- I still need to clean up the spare bedroom. It's been a disaster ever since before Christmas.
- I am starting to like the color green more and more.
- I finally found a pattern for crochet Christmas stocking and I'm working on making them for all my nephews and nieces.
- I have to start now because by the time next Christmas comes around I will need to have made 12 of them.
- The hardest part is making their names….I'm still tryin' to figure it out.
- I bet I miss-spell at least one of their names on the stockings.
- I hate eating celery.
- Knock on wood….we haven't seen any snow down here this winter, and it's been GREAT!
- My Christmas Cactus is blooming right now and it's beautiful!!!
- My aloe plant is trying to take over my house
- I need to clean my kitchen.
- I always need to clean my kitchen…it's small and I make big messes when I cook, and I cook a lot.

Why I haven't wrote
So we got back from my family's Christmas a week ago and I haven't really done any posting since then. I have my reasons. One of them being that I caught a nasty cold right when we got back and instead of posting and writing anything I just wanted to sit with a box of tissues and do nothing. A better blogger would have done more, but alas that is not me.
On top of not feeling well we were also busy around here. Part of that was me traveling to Kansas City last week to pick up my Christmas present. Ya see my rotten husband wasn't suppose to do much for me this year, but he didn't listen. He had been planning on picking up my present on Christmas Eve, but he was in the field working and by the time he got in everything was closed, but this worked out for the best because he was planning on going an buying me a new tiller for my garden....
I was borrowing my mom's extra tiller but she wanted it back last summer so I was without a tiller most of the year. I had been looking at one, but I just wasn't wanting to drop the cash for it. I had done some lookin' on craigslist, but those things go like hot cakes and I'm pretty picky about what I will travel to get.
Well the night we got back from Missouri Caleb jumped on craiglist and did some lookin' and it was then that he found my dream tiller in our price range and it hadn't been sold....
It was also then that Caleb let loose that this was what he was planning on getting me for Christmas.....
Needless to say I was shocked and very happy. The only problem was I had to make the trip to KC to pick it up and it's a 5 hour round trip. So for a sickly little girl it's not fun to make by your self, but for my Troy Built it was so worth it....
I won't lie, i did a little shopping too, but all the store were a mad house so that didn't last long either.
We have also been doing some moving...
Did we buy a new house??
NO....
We are just getting closer to getting everything moved into our house. Ya see we remodeled our house after were got married over two years ago. We weren't living in it when we did most of the work. We ended up moving in it 2 1/2 years ago with a few things not finished yet....
One of them being all the trim. Caleb was toying with the idea of doing it himself, but finally after a year+ of me bugging him about it he finally hired a guy to do it. So since we didn't have the trim done I didn't want to move any "big" and "heavy" furniture in. Things like our entertainment center and my piano, cause once they are in place they aren't gonna be moved again!
So since the trim was taken care of back in the summer Caleb got a crazy hair and finally decided to move all my stuff over here and since this doesn't happen every often I wasn't about to say no....even if I felt like crap.
Another reason I haven't been writing is that I was toying with the idea of taking a break from blogging...
I have been doing a lot of praying about it over the past few days and I have nixed the idea to taking a break, but I might not blog sometimes all that often, but I will still be here. I have a lot of 'irons in the fire' right now and I need to get my priorities strait.
My mind has been being stretched a million different ways and I didn't realize how much it was effecting me until Christmas when everything was kinda haywire and I didn't even enjoy the best part of Christmas....Celebrating the Birth of Jesus. It seemed more lost this year than ever before and I hated it!
So with all that being said, I have been a little preoccupied lately but I will say I am feeling much better. I have a lot of boxes to go through and see what all I can't live without and what all I can burn!
Lots of Love,
Janet

Back and at 'em
We made it through the Christmas.
It wasn't bad, it just a busy time. With lots of traveling and and eating...
I enjoy the eating part.
I am happy to say we are back on the farm here in Kansas and boy am I glad.
My once clean house is now a disaster once again, so I will be spending most of the afternoon cleaning and taking down all my Christmas decorations.
But before I started on all that I wanted to stop in and say HI and share with ya'll one of my most favorite pics from the Holiday time.

You met him back in June when he was just born, and now at 7 months old is has changed a lot. I also have a lot of pictures of him from this weekend.
I have many more picture of our crazy good time, but right now I need to get back to putting things away.

Christmas Vacation
So I hope all ya'll got all your presents wrapped, cause Christmas eve is tomorrow which means you don't have all that much time.
And because of that
And because we are suppose to get some nasty weather tonight and tomorrow....
and because we have cattle calving....
and because we will be spending time with the family a lot over the next few days....
I most likely won't be back to post anything till some time next week.
So I hope you all are able to Celebrate the Birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, cause if it wasn't for Him then you wouldn't be you and I wouldn't be me and without us this world wouldn't be as wonderful.
So a Very Merry Christmas to you all!
Love,
Janet

Christmas Presents
One crazy thing about me is that I love wrapping presents. If I live close to a big city store where I could get payed for doing it, then I would be a happy camper.
When I get back from shopping on black Friday, I am soo ready to start wrapping...but usually I take a nap first.
Actually I don't start wrapping them until I get the tree up first. but once it's up I am a wrapping fool!
I have had all my presents wrapped for a couple weeks now...
well all that I could get wrapped....
I am still working on a couple of presents but as soon as I'm finished with them they will be sitting under my tree.
Since I have a couple of different family's to buy for and I don't want to get everybody's presents all mixed up....
I give each family their own wrapping paper. The great thing about the wrapping paper I use is it's reversible, so you get two for the price of one! I get my wrapping paper from Sam's Club cause it has this reversible stuff and the rolls have 200 or better sq ft, so they last forever!!!
Another thing I do is buy matching ribbon to go with each roll, cause I like pretty bows!
After people open their presents I will save and re-use the ribbons. Now if someone really wanted to keep it I would let them but if not I will take it back and use it the next year.
The green wrapping paper with the big red bows are for Caleb and I....
ok really just for Caleb cause as of yet there is nothing under the tree for me....
I guess I was just a bad girl this past year and I'm on the naughty list, oh well there is always next year...
This year the blue presents were for Caleb's family and as of yesterday, they are no more, but they were pretty while they were here.
Now my rule has always been that Caleb and I get the prettiest wrapped packages and as of last year that was the green ans red ones and I thought that would still be the same thing this year.
I did buy some new gold paper and ribbon this year, but I really didn't think I would like it all that much but then...
I wrapped my first one and well they are just beautiful. O-well I guess my side of the family will get the prettiest ones this year, but next year this will be mine and Caleb's cause I just love it!!
If you don't have all your presents bought or wrapped just yet don't worry you still have 4 1/2 days left.
I'm now gonna go work on making and eating some Christmas Candy!!
Lot-of-Love
JP
